St Peter's College in Palmerston North and Onepoto Primary School on Auckland's North Shore were the two of the three winners of the 2010 Make a Spectacle of Yourself Challenge. Two students from St Peter's travelled to Wellington where they spent the day with All Black legend Michael Jones at the NZRFU headquarters.
Hamilton Boys' High School, which donated the most overall, will be visited by Michael Jones during the 2011 school year when he will speak to the leadership group and the school's senior rugby team.
The youngsters at Onepoto School were treated to a special visit. Read about Michael's visit here...

Christchurch Girls High School also got behind the challenge and raised an impressive $2012
"As the Prefect that is Head of Charities for Christchurch Girls' High School, I have the privilege of selecting some of the charities in which we, as a school, aim to support. After being inspired by the Fred Hollows Foundation advertisement in Australia, I was very excited by the opportunity to support them in some way. Through the innovative ideas of the charities committee, we constructed a plan of how we could integrate blind awareness based activities with raising funds.
We were grateful for the support provided by Hollows NZ and we were very moved by her presentation at our school and by the DVD that we were shown which we then used to promote the fundraising idea to the rest of the school.
Through a mufti day and blindfolded lunchtime games, we raised $2012 which will improve the sight of approximately 80 people. One of the most fulfilling aspects of this project was how we were able to help disadvantaged people from countries that bare much significance to New Zealand and that are not very far from home. I am proud of the efforts that we made to support the Fred Hollows Foundation and of the increased awareness of the implications of blindness to both the person affected and to their family as a result.
