The Pacific Eye Institute (PEI), located in Suva, Fiji, was set up by the Fred Hollows Foundation New Zealand (FHFNZ) and is the Pacific region's first training facility for eye health professionals. PEI's programs are delivered in a state-of-the-art building which houses a fully-equipped eye clinic, theatres, classrooms and resource centre. FHFNZ's Pacific regional program focuses on the delivery of long-term, accredited training for eye health workers from across the region, with courses delivered through PEI and awarded by Fiji National University. The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ is looking for therapeutically qualified optometrists and ophthalmic nurses to assist in the delivery of Foundation-supported training programs and post-graduate workplace support. Ideally we would like to find candidates who have experience in teaching, and experience in working in a developing country. There are a number of placements becoming available for 4-5 weeks at a time in Madang, Papua New Guinea, and Suva, Fiji. More details
