Leave a bequest

Fred Hollows believed in leaving the world a better place.

Fred Hollows believed in leaving the world a better place. Make a gift in your will today.Fred’s vision was a world where no one is needlessly blind, and where people in developing countries could enjoy the same health and life expectancy as New Zealanders.

By leaving a gift to The Fred Hollows Foundation in your will, you can make a lasting difference to our work to restore sight, dignity and independence across the Pacific.

Gifts in wills form a significant part of our income and we are grateful for every gift we receive, no matter the amount. These gifts are the most special and personal way in which you can make your compassion for the needlessly blind in the Pacific live on for many years. We are continuously moved by the generosity of our supporters and the legacy they leave. Here are some examples of the stories behind the thoughtful gifts made or planned by our supporters.

Heather Lennox

Heather has made a bequest for The Fred Hollows Foundation in her will.

"As a child I suffered with very poor sight so I know what a profound difference good sight has made to my life. I live a privileged life and I want to redress the balance by helping The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ to bring sight and hope to people in the Pacific so that they can once again look after their families. It makes me feel good that I can leave a legacy and know that after I have gone, I will still be making a real contribution to improving the lives of others."

Laurie and Lettie Willis

Laurie and Lettie made a bequest to The Fred Hollows Foundation through their trust.

Murray Willis writes, "My parents, Laurie and Lettie Willis, were very impressed by the work carried out by The Fred Hollows Foundation and wished to add their support by way of a donation on their death. Having both experienced the transformation of cataract surgery and knowing how cost effectively The Fred Hollows Foundation can perform this surgery, The Foundation was an organisation they were especially keen to support."

There are a number of different ways you can make a gift in your Will to The Fred Hollows foundation.

What we can do

Help keep Fred’s dream alive.

4 out of 5 people who are blind in the developing world don't need to be. Routine treatment costing as little as $25 can restore sight and hope.
