When Philomena was born with cataracts in both eyes, her mum, Ana, became worried for her baby’s future. At best, Philomena would be able to see light, but she likely wouldn’t be able to make out shapes or figures.
Thanks to the incredible support of people just like you, little Philomena had sight-restoring surgery at a Foundation-supported Children’s Outreach. Having her sight restored helped fulfil Philomena’s greatest wish – to see her mum’s face for the very first time. When the bandages were removed, she said with a beaming smile, “My eyes are magic now.”
That’s the difference a kind gift from you today can make – you will help to restore sight to children who have their whole life ahead of them.
Your tax-deductible donation will help support more outreaches such as the Foundation-supported Children’s Outreach, which assessed and treated Philomena and many other Fijian children.
Treating eye health issues in children is both critical and urgent, with Kirit Prasad, FHFNZ’s Fiji Country Manager, saying: “If children’s issues are not operated on early, they risk developing complications and losing any chance of seeing again.”
