Go plastic bag free and give the gift of sight to someone in the Pacific

New Zealand is now a plastic bag free country with single use shopping bags officially banned at the beginning of July.

The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ partnered with VIVA magazine to design a limited edition tote bag, perfect to replace the plastic bags you once used.

Using our limited edition tote bag means you’ll not only be making a positive impact on the environment, you’ll also be giving back the gift of sight. By making a $30 donation on our website, you will have your tote bag posted directly to you, and your donation will give back the gift of sight to one needlessly blind person in the Pacific.

The artwork featured on the tote bag is named MATA and was designed by Dan Awha, Fashion and Creative Director at VIVA. Inspired by a collision of Pacific and Western art, the tote bag encourages us to take care of our eyes in order to see the beauty around us.

It costs just $25 for a short 20-minute operation to restore someone’s sight. Millions of people around the world are blind simply because they live in poverty. Many of our Pacific neighbours are suffering this exact fate. You can help us to eliminate avoidable blindness in Pacific, where four out of five people who are blind don't need to be.
