Worldwide, 2.2 billion people worldwide are living with vision impairment. At least 1 billion of these people's vision impairment is avoidable or preventable.
The world faces considerable challenges when it comes to eye care. There are inequalities in the delivery and quality of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation services; a shortage of trained eye care service providers; and poor integration of eye care services into health systems, among others.
The World report on vision, written with the help of experts from all around the world, presents evidence of the severity of the problem. It aims to address these challenges and galvanize action.
