Kimbe Eye Clinic

Kimbe, Papua New Guinea

We built Papua New Guinea’s Kimbe General Hospital Eye Clinic in collaboration with the West New Britain Provincial Health Department.

History

The clinic opened its doors in 2010 and is now managed by the Ministry of Health. Due to the shortage of eye specialists in Papua New Guinea there is no permanent eye doctor, and our eye care team from Modilon Eye Clinic in Madang continues to send it’s eye doctors on surgical outreach to treat patients in need.

The Clinic is successfully managed by eye nurses who were trained by The Foundation through Divine Word University. We continue to support these nurses through our workforce support programme which ensures their eye care skills and knowledge are retained.
