Cataract is one of the leading causes of vision impairment and blindness. Thankfully, cataracts can be removed through a relatively short 20-minute operation recognised as one of the most cost-effective healthcare interventions.

Your donation will be used to support our sight-saving work. This includes working with our Pacifc partners to deliver eye operations and treatments, training eye care professionals, and strengthening eye health systems.
For every $1 donated, 75c goes directly towards eye health programmes and public education and 25c is necessary for administration, communication and fundraising costs which allows us to help even more people.

We work across the Pacific region, in countries including Fiji, Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea.
We also provide support to Nauru and Tuvalu, and have worked with the health authorities in the Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of Marshall Islands, Niue, Timor-Leste, and Tokelau to train 44 eye care clinicians.

The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ accepts Monthly donations via a payment card or direct debit. You can nominate a monthly debit date of 1st, 10th or 15th if using your card. For direct debit you can chose 5th or 20th of each month.
Annual receipts for monthly donations are issued after the end of the tax year, typically six – eight weeks after the tax year closes for the previous financial year. If you make a one-off donation, a receipt will be issued at the time of the gift.
Each year, The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ works with Pacific partners to perform thousands of sight-restoring surgeries and deliver eye care services to people throughout the Pacific. We also support the training of local eye health specialists to provide eye care services in their own communities and work to strengthen local health systems so that everyone can access quality eye care.
