Put on a bake sale, download teaching resources or nominate a young person for the Fred Hollows Humanity Awards – these are just some of the ways you can make a real difference.
For every donation you make over $5, you can claim 33.33% back as a tax credit – and you can claim up to four years previous if you haven’t already done so. Make a difference to someone’s life today with money you never knew you had!
Read our guide on how to claim your tax credit, or head straight to the IRD website with a copy of your tax receipt to begin the process.
Once you’ve received your tax credit you can donate to us online or contact our team on 0800 227 229 to arrange for your tax credit to come back to The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ.
Helping restore sight is a beautiful way to remember someone important to you.

Transform someone’s tomorrow and brighten someone’s day by choosing a gift with meaning this Christmas from our Gift of Sight store. Each purchase you make from the store supports our work in restoring sight to people in the Pacific.
The store features a beautiful range of products from our partners, as well as gift cards and e-cards. From as little as $25, you can give a gift that restores sight. Our store is open from 1 November – 31 December.
Specsavers run a major community initiative in stores nationwide, the Specsavers Community Program, where a portion of every sale of a pair of glasses is donated to The Foundation.
Update your look and restore sight to someone in the Pacific at the same time by purchasing your new glasses from Specsavers.
Thanks for thinking of us, but unfortunately we no longer take donated glasses as it’s too costly.
Donated glasses are often a specific prescription with different strength lenses. This means the chance of finding a perfect (or even close) match for another wearer is slim to none. The cost to arrange custom lenses to then be created for bespoke frames is much higher than the cost of providing ready-made glasses.
The Lions Club would be very appreciative of your donation. They collect glasses for their Recycle For Sight programme which regrades and distributes 250,000 to 500,000 pairs each year to those in need throughout the world. For details on where to drop off or post your old glasses, visit the Lions Club Recycle for Sight website.
Alternatively, you can drop them into your local Specsavers store who will recycle them in partnership with the Recycle For Sight programme.
If you live in the Kerikeri area, the Kerikeri Woodchoppers sell and deliver firewood, with all of their proceeds going to The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ. They also accept donations of firewood and trees.

To make a donation in memory, click Donate and make sure the “Donate in memory” box is selected. The message you enter will be displayed on our online Memoriam Board.
If you’d like to leave a bequest, please contact our Relationship Manager Karen Blake on 0800 227 229. See our Gift in Will page for more information on leaving a bequest in your Will.
Your donation could be used to restore someone’s sight, but it may also go towards a range of other programme activities like training eye doctors and nurses. These health professionals will then go on to help thousands of people in their community. All of the work we do aims to strengthen eye health systems throughout the Pacific.
You can find learning resources based on the work of Fred Hollows and The Foundation on our education page.
