We prioritize the protection and well-being of children, ensuring all children have equal rights to safety and support. This policy outlines how our team actively works to prevent abuse, uphold children’s rights, and handle any concerns with care and responsibility.

Our Code of Conduct defines the standards and ethical practices expected of everyone involved with The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ. It serves as a guide for respectful, transparent, and lawful actions, rooted in our values of integrity, responsibility, respect, and accountability.

We are a member of the Council for International Development (CID) and a signatory to the CID Code of Conduct (‘the CID Code’). The CID Code Compliant ‘tick’ signifies that we have met the standards and expectations of corporate governance, transparency, accountability, and good practice, as outlined in the CID Code.

Complaints relating to alleged breaches of the CID Code by any signatory agency can be made to the independent CID Code of Conduct Committee. More information about the CID Code can be obtained from CID at: www.cid.org.nz or email code@cid.org.nz

This policy promotes an open, transparent culture where employees are encouraged to report any serious breaches of ethical or legal standards without fear of retaliation. It provides a safe framework for raising concerns and reinforces our commitment to accountability.

We are dedicated to safeguarding personal information and respecting privacy rights. This policy details how we securely manage, use, and protect personal data in compliance with legal standards, ensuring transparency and trust with our donors, partners, and community.

To assure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the not-for-profit organisations and causes they are asked to support, we are committed to upholding the international Donor Bill of Rights.

Anyone who engages with The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ has the right to raise a complaint and receive a timely, fair and considered response. This includes partners, representatives, supported students, people affected by our work, and anyone who has observed wrongdoing. Complaints may also be made on behalf of another person if they fear reprisal.

There is no fee to make a complaint.

We have a designated Privacy Officer responsible for investigating complaints or concerns about how we handle personal information. Any issues raised are taken seriously and addressed appropriately.

Privacy-related complaints can be directed to our Privacy Officer at privacy@hollows.nz or by calling 0800 227 229 and asking for the Privacy Officer.

Complaints relating to the safety of children or vulnerable adults should be directed to our Safeguarding Officer at safeguarding@hollows.nz.

Please provide as much relevant detail as possible so we can respond effectively. We aim to respond within seven days. If your complaint is not resolved, it may be referred to the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner.
